The Vanuatu Games are the most important sporting event of the country, let's make a short preview of the Basketball Tournament which will be held in Saint Patrick College on Ambae Island. Four times defending champion Port-Vila will be the number one favourite.

Ambae Island is only 39km and is little more than the peak of a volcanic mountain rising dramatically from the sea, Saint Patrick College will held the Tournament on its Tahigogona court.
Meetings have been held in the head quarters of the National Olympic Committee to prepare this event. Referees and Game Officials have also been appointed by the Federation and their traveling arrangement is being organized. There will be 4 referees two officials from Port Vila Basketball Association and 1 referee and two officials from Luganville Basketball League. FIBA rules will be applied but also some minor modification will be made according to the requirements and capability of the Vanuatu Games Organizing committee to host the event.
Peter Izono the NBDO will be the Federation representative and also the appointed Technical Official for the tournament. Unfortunately Tafea Province will not participate because of financial shortage and Sanma province is still to reconfirm his participation after the withdrawal declared last week.

Previous winners:
2003: Port-Vila
2001: Port-Vila
1999: Port-Vila
1997: Port-Vila
