Regular Season Round 10: Joondalup W. - Eastern Suns 78-65

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Wanneroo (2-0) defeated bottom-ranked Suns (0-1) in Joondalup 78-65 on Saturday. Wanneroo dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 20. They outrebounded Suns 51-30 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for American forward Kayla Steindl (187-89, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import power forward Amber Land (188-85, college: EMU) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Guard Jewel Williams (168-1) replied with 32 points and Courtney Mansfield added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Suns. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Wanneroo keeps a position of League leader. Loser Suns still closes the standings with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
