There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Kilsyth Cobras (3-2) won against at home 8th ranked Spectres (3-3) 72-61 on Saturday. Kilsyth Cobras made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Kilsyth Cobras outrebounded Spectres 43-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. Naturalized South Sudanese center Deng Riak (208-95, college: Akron) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Swingman Benjamin Ursich (196-96, college: Augusta) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Kilsyth Cobras' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and forward Andrew Steel (200-91, college: CPP) added 20 points in the effort for Spectres. Kilsyth Cobras moved-up to ninth place in League. Loser Spectres dropped to the eleventh position with three games lost. Kilsyth Cobras will face higher ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (#4) in Ulverstone in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Spectres will play on the road against Tigers (#18) in Melbourne and hope to win that game.
