There was an upset when higher ranked Newcastle Hunters (3-3) were outscored by thirteenth ranked Crusaders (1-4) in Broadmeadow 78-59 on Saturday. Crusaders forced 29 Newcastle Hunters turnovers. Forward James Trustum (192) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Jacob Cracknell contributed with 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Crusaders players scored in double figures. Forward Myles Cherry (203-98, college: Lafayette) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Joel Rauch added 18 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Newcastle Hunters. Crusaders left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in League. Loser Newcastle Hunters dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Crusaders will face higher ranked Bankstown Bruins (#9) in Condell Park in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
