Everything could happen in Mackay at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Meteorettes and 7th ranked Rollers had identical 3-1 record. This time Meteorettes used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Gold Coast 82-58 on Friday night. Meteorettes outrebounded Rollers 53-42 including a 43-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international center Cayla George (192-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 23 rebounds and 5 assists. Heidi Freeburn (-86) helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Meteorettes players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Casey Samuels (182-94) responded with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Lilly Rotunno (170-4) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Meteorettes (4-1) moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Rollers dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Meteorettes will face Pirates (#9) in Runcorn in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rollers will play at home against Sunshine CP and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
