Regular Season Round 17: Chelsea G. - Western Port 106-78
Date: June 26, 2021
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Gulls (3-6) crushed 10th ranked Steelers (1-9) in Melbourne 106-78 on Saturday. Gulls outrebounded Steelers 48-28 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Corey Standerfer (201-88, college: York, NE) nailed a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winning side and center Nathan Frost (203, college: Central CC) accounted for 13 points, 21 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Gulls players scored in double figures. Naturalized Maltese guard Bevan Camilleri (188) came up with 23 points and center Matthew Turner (210-87) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Steelers in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gulls maintains seventh place in League with 3-6 record. Loser Steelers keep the tenth position with nine games lost. Gulls' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Melbourne to the arena Vikings.
