Regular Season Round 17: Nunawading S. - Waverley F. 79-88

Date: June 26, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Spectres (5-4) lost to fifth ranked Waverley Falcons (7-2) in East Burwood 79-88 on Saturday. Waverley Falcons made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) nailed 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-91, college: WSU) accounted for 21 points. American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Jack Gandolfo added 15 points respectively for Spectres in the defeat. Five Waverley Falcons and four Spectres players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Waverley Falcons moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Spectres keep the seventh position with four games lost. Waverley Falcons will meet Tigers (#18) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Spectres will play against the league's leader NW Tasmania Thunder (#1) in Ulverstone and hope to secure a win.
