Regular Season Round 18: Sunbury J. - Hawthorn M. 69-93

There was a small surprise in Sunbury where eighth ranked Magic (4-6) smashed 5th ranked Jets (6-5) 93-69 on Saturday. Magic had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Jets' players. The best player for the winners was Joe Furphy who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Forward Xavier Evans (193, college: Pfeiffer) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Magic players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Gene Vocale who recorded 18 points and Nathan Marshall added 10 points and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Magic maintains eighth position in League with 4-6 record. Loser Jets dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Magic will meet at home higher ranked Gulls (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jets will play against Cougars in McKinnon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
