Rather predictable result when top-ranked Thunder (10-0) rolled over 5th ranked Sunshine CP (6-4) in Cotton Tree 100-45 on Saturday. Thunder held Sunshine CP to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.1 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Sunshine CP 54-29 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Thunder looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Thunder made 7 blocks. Forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) notched a double-double by scoring 25 points, 23 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Carla Drennan (178, college: CSUN) supported her with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by swingman Amy Browne (178-90) did not help to save the game for Sunshine CP. Power forward Biancia Abbott (183-82) added 4 points and 5 assists for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunder maintains first position in League with 10-0 record. Loser Sunshine CP keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Thunder will meet Meteorettes (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
