Regular Season Round 19: Melbourne T. - NW Tasmania 96-100

No shocking result in a game in Melbourne where third ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (11-3) defeated 17th ranked Tigers (2-11) 100-96 on Sunday. NW Tasmania Thunder dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 24. They outrebounded Tigers 54-30 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. NW Tasmania Thunder looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for New Zealand guard Mason Bragg (182-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Joe Chilcott (193-96) helped adding 30 points and 4 assists. At the losing side guard Zac Triplett (196-1, college: Portland) responded with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Felix Von Hofe (196-93, college: EWU) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Four Tigers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. NW Tasmania Thunder moved-up to second place in League. Loser Tigers keep the seventeenth position with 11 games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will meet at home Waverley Falcons (#5) in the next round. Tigers will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#4) in Mt Gambier and hope to secure a win.
