There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Eagles (4-12) won against their close opponent Suns (4-11) in Kalamunda 82-76 on Friday. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 30. They outrebounded Suns 43-32 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Kieran Berry (183-99) supported him with 20 points and 4 assists. Four Eagles players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Ryan Blanchett (203-96, college: FNU) did not help to save the game for Suns. Guard Jermaine Malie (185-96) added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Despite that victory Eagles went down to thirteenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Suns keep the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Eagles will meet higher ranked Senators (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Suns will play against Magic (#7) and hope to secure a win.
