There was no surprise in Gawler where bottom-ranked Lions (0-15) were outplayed by fourth ranked Eagles (10-5) 88-49 on Sunday. Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 28. Eagles forced 24 Lions turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Eagles made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was swingman Samantha Simons (188-0, college: St.Mary's, CA) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Zali Grosser chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks. Four Eagles players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Meaza Otto who recorded 8 points and Madelyn Curry added 8 points respectively. Lions' coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Eagles maintains fourth place in League with 10-5 record. Loser Lions still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Eagles will meet at home higher ranked Panthers (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
