There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Buccaneers (5-11) edged 4th placed Redbacks (10-6) in Wonthella 68-67 on Saturday. Naturalized South Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and New Zealand guard Taine Wattie (190-98) accounted for 15 points. Power forward Louis Timms (206-91, college: WBU) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and swingman Tevin Jackson (202-94, college: McNeese St.) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Redbacks in the defeat. Buccaneers moved-up to tenth place in League. Loser Redbacks dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Buccaneers will meet at home higher ranked Senators (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Redbacks will play against Suns in Kalamunda and hope to secure a win.
