An interesting game was also a 16-point surprising road defeat of 4th ranked Melbourne Phoenix in a game in Brisbane versus Bullets (#8) 100-84. Bullets looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Robert Franks (203-96, college: WSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. International guard Nathan Sobey (190-90, college: Wyoming) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side. The former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-92) came up with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Xavier Munford (193-92, college: URI) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Melbourne Phoenix in the defeat. Four Bullets and five Melbourne Phoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bullets (3-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Adelaide. Loser Melbourne Phoenix keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Bullets will meet Cairns Taipans (#8) on the road in the next round. Melbourne Phoenix will play against Illawarra Hawks (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
