Regular Season Round 8: Sydney - Brisbane 97-73
Date: January 23, 2022
There was a minor upset in Sydney where 5th ranked Bullets (4-5) were crushed by seventh ranked Kings (4-6) 97-73 on Sunday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kings made 11 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was forward Jarell Martin (208-94, college: LSU) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Jaylen Adams (188-96, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Robert Franks (203-96, college: WSU) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Kings and four Bullets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kings moved-up to sixth place. Loser Bullets keep the fifth position with five games lost. Kings will meet at home league's second-placed Perth Wildcats in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bullets will play against Melbourne Phoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
