Regular Season Round 16: Melbourne - Adelaide 101-74
Date: March 20, 2022
NBL top team - United (15-5) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Adelaide 36ers (6-13) in Melbourne 101-74. The winners were led by naturalized Sudanese center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and Togolese-German center Ariel Hukporti (214-2002) supported him with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five United players scored in double figures. Even 18 points by the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-1988, college: Pepperdine) did not help to save the game for Adelaide 36ers. The former international point guard Tad Dufelmeier (183-1996, college: CUI) added 11 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-5 record. Loser Adelaide 36ers keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. United will meet at home league's second-placed Perth Wildcats in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adelaide 36ers will play against Bullets (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
