There was no surprise in Newcastle where bottom-ranked Bulls (0-3) were defeated by leader Hunters (1-0) 61-45 on Saturday. Hunters dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Bulls' 24. They outrebounded Bulls 51-28 including a 18-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Chyra Evans (191-2003) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds. Jessica Relf chipped in 6 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Georgia Stirton (173, college: Gonzaga) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and Shona O'Connell-Shea added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Hunters left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Bulls still closes the standings with three games lost. Hunters will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bulls will play against Mustangs (#7) and hope to get finally their first victory.
