Everything could happen in Rockingham at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Magic and bottom-ranked Flames had identical 0-0 record. But Flames were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Mandurah 73-57 on Saturday night. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Flames' 22. Magic forced 19 Flames turnovers and outrebounded them 51-31 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Carly Boag (188-1991, college: Minot St.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Casey Mihovilovich (173-1982) chipped in 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Taylor Ortlepp (180-1997, college: Boston Coll.) produced 14 points and guard Paris Duffield (171) added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Magic (1-0) left bottom position moving up to fourth place in League. Loser Flames still closes the standings with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
