Regular Season Round 14: NGC Seahawks - SC Phoenix 80-115
Date: May 8, 2022
There was a small surprise in Runaway Bay where fourteenth ranked Phoenix (2-2) outscored 11th ranked Seahawks (1-2) 115-80 on Sunday. Phoenix dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Seahawks' 32. Phoenix forced 19 Seahawks turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Jamaal Robateau (196, college: Gardner-Webb) scored 30 points to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Maltese center Nelson Kahler (206-1994, college: CSU-Pueblo) chipped in 24 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Forward Lloyd McVeigh (197-2003) responded with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Lachlan Woodhill scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Seahawks players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Phoenix moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Seahawks dropped to the fourteenth position with two games lost. Phoenix will meet at home Northside Wizards (#7) in the next round. Seahawks will play against Ipswich Force (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
