Regular Season Round 15: Sandringham S. - Nunawading S. 67-100
Date: May 21, 2022
There was no surprise in Cheltenham where 14th ranked Sabres (4-4) were outplayed by eighth ranked Spectres (5-2) 100-67 on Saturday. Spectres made 32-of-37 free shots (86.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Sabres turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-1991, agency: LBM Management) who scored 29 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Cassidy Mihalko (180-1995, college: CBU) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) who recorded 19 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) added 20 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spectres moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Sabres dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Spectres will meet at home Thunder (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sabres will play against Tigers in Melbourne and hope to secure a win.
