Regular Season Round 30: Sutherland S. - Cent.Coast C. 80-59
Date: July 9, 2022
Not a big story in a game in Sutherland where 9th ranked Crusaders (3-11) were outplayed by third ranked Sharks (10-3) 80-59 on Saturday. Sharks held Crusaders to an opponent 24.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Crusaders 48-36 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sharks looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Crusaders' players. International guard Lauren Nicholson (183-1993, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Lauren Calver (185, college: HBU) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Sara Matthews (174-2002) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and guard Abbey Cracknell (170-2003) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sharks moved-up to second place in League. Loser Crusaders dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
