Very expected game when 12th ranked Townsville Heat (6-11) was smashed by third ranked Rip City (11-5) in Sippy Downs 92-71 on Sunday. Rip City forced 20 Townsville Heat turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Naturalized Sudanese forward Kouat Noi (201-1997, college: TCU) notched a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Wani Swaka (198-2001) supported him with 10 points. Rip City's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 22 points and 9 rebounds by center Matthew Rees (205-1987) did not help to save the game for Townsville Heat. Guard Chris Kann (188-1996) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Rip City and five Townsville Heat players scored in double figures. Rip City maintains third position in League with 11-5 record having seven points less than leader Canberra G. Loser Townsville Heat keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Rip City will meet at home Phoenix (#9) in the next round where they are favorite.
