There was a minor upset in Mount Waverley where 11th ranked Waverley Falcons (9-11) were defeated by thirteenth ranked Ringwood Hawks (10-12) 96-90 on Sunday. Ringwood Hawks made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Shaun Clarke (204) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Daniel Dillon (193-1986, college: Arizona) produced 26 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (199-1991, college: WSU) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Ringwood Hawks and five Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ringwood Hawks moved-up to eleventh place in League. Loser Waverley Falcons dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Ringwood Hawks will meet at home higher ranked Knox Raiders (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Waverley Falcons will play against Dandenong Rangers and hope to secure a win.
