Regular Season Round 2: Townsville - Adelaide 84-79

Very expected game when Adelaide Lightning was defeated on the road by Townsville Fire 84-79 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Townsville Fire dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 38. The best player for the winners was American forward Tianna Hawkins (191-1991, college: Maryland, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). British-American swingman Karlie Samuelson (183-1995, college: Stanford) chipped in 20 points. The former international swingman Stephanie Talbot (188-1994) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Lauren Mansfield (170-1989, college: Iowa St.) added 18 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Four Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. Adelaide Lightning's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Townsville Fire will meet at home Southside Flyers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adelaide Lightning will play against Sydney Flames and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
