The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Kings (11-5) on the court of fourth ranked Melbourne Phoenix on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Melbourne Phoenix 113-112. 33 personal fouls committed by Kings helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Syrian-American guard George Kell III (193-1996, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Derrick Walton Jr (185-1995, college: Michigan) answered with a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 10 assists and naturalized Sudanese forward Kouat Noi (201-1997, college: TCU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kings. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Melbourne Phoenix (11-7) moved-up to third place. Defending champion Kings still keep top position with five games lost. They share it with NZL Breakers. Melbourne Phoenix are looking forward to face Adelaide 36ers (#5) in Findon in the next round.
