There was a small surprise when eighth ranked United (11-12) won against 5th ranked JackJumpers (11-10) in Hobart 92-85 on Saturday. United made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. American center Marcus Lee (208-1994, college: California) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and New Zealand guard Shea Ili (184-1992) supported him with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Five United players scored in double figures. Even 20 points by American Milton Doyle (193-1993, college: Loyola, IL) did not help to save the game for JackJumpers. The former international forward Jack McVeigh (203-1996, college: Nebraska) added 18 points for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. United moved-up to seventh place. Loser JackJumpers keep the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Adelaide. United will meet Bullets (#9) in the next round. JackJumpers will play against Adelaide 36ers (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
