Regular Season Round 2: Bulleen B. - Sherbrooke S. 85-51

Date: March 19, 2023
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Suns in Bulleen. Visitors were rolled over by Boomers 85-51. Boomers held Suns to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Boomers forced 27 Suns turnovers. Strangely Suns outrebounded Boomers 52-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Boomers brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Guard Annabel Deerbon (180, college: HCU) notched 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and forward Olivia Bontempelli (179-1993) supported her with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Boomers' coach Mason Rogers felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by New Zealand forward Alicia Carline (190-1993, college: Portland St.) did not help to save the game for Suns. Tanarly Hood added 15 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Boomers will play against Warriors in the next round where they are favorite. Suns will play against Cougars in McKinnon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
