But Flames were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from Pasadena 88-55 on Sunday night. Sabres forced 31 Flames turnovers and outrebounded them 48-31 including a 23-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Flames' players. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian forward Mikayla Williams (183, college: USF) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds. Power forward Tayla Brazel (182-2004) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Sharna Thompson came up with 22 points and 5 rebounds and center Alek Akuen (190, college: SIUE) added 11 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Flames in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sabres will meet at home Panthers (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Flames will play against Bearcats and look forward to get finally their first victory.
