Regular Season Round 5: SW Slammers - Mandurah M. 39-89
Date: April 6, 2023
Everything went according to plan in Bunbury where leader Magic (2-0) outscored bottom-ranked Slammers (0-1) 89-39 on Thursday. Magic held Slammers to an opponent 18.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.4 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Magic forced 24 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 48-25 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-American Samoan power forward Sarah Toeaina (185-1996, college: Hawaii) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Casey Mihovilovich (173-1982) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals. Five Magic players scored in double figures. Kate Williams produced 10 points and Sierraleone Simpson added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Magic keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 10 other teams. Loser Slammers still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 9 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
