There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Sabres (2-4) were edged on the road by thirteenth ranked Geelong Supercats (2-2) 92-89 on Friday. Geelong Supercats made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. Geelong Supercats outrebounded Sabres 37-25 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ella Tofaeono (190, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and forward Eve Braslis (185-2000, college: Pepperdine) who added 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Forward Georgia Pineau (185-1997, college: Boston Coll.) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and naturalized Turkish guard Funda Nakkasoglu (173-1995, college: Florida) scored 24 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Sabres dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Geelong Supercats will meet Cavaliers (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
