Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Roar (0-6) was outscored by tenth ranked Thunder (3-3) in Loganholme 98-67 on Friday. Thunder shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Roar's players. Mikhaela Cann notched 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and New Zealand forward Ashley Taia (182-1994, college: Indiana St.) supported her with 25 points. Five Thunder players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by center Caitlin Cunningham (192-1986) did not help to save the game for Roar. Guard Lilly Rotunno (170-2004) added 14 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Thunder moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser Roar still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Casey C.. Thunder will meet Rip City (#12) in the next round where they are favorite. Roar will play against the league's leader Wizards (#1) in Taigum and hopes to get finally their first victory.
