Everything went according to plan in Mt. Barker where fourth ranked Bearcats (5-2) outleveled 9th ranked Eastern Mavericks (1-6) 117-91 on Saturday. Bearcats made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Bearcats outrebounded Eastern Mavericks 48-25 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international swingman Anthony Drmic (198-1992, college: Boise St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and Lachlan Olbrich (208-2003, college: UC Riverside) chipped in 31 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Jack Hemphill (206-1999, college: SFC) responded with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jasper Rentoy (180-2000) scored 29 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bearcats have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Eastern Mavericks lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with C.District L.. Bearcats will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Eastern Mavericks will play against North Adelaide Rockets (#7) in Greenacres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
