Regular Season Round 11: USC Rip - Logan T. 57-91
Date: May 6, 2023
Rather expected game in Sippy Downs where 11th ranked Rip City (2-4) was crushed by eighth ranked Thunder (4-3) 91-57 on Saturday. Thunder had a 41-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Rip City's players. The best player for the winners was forward Mikaela Ruef (191-1990, college: Stanford) who had a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. Mikhaela Cann chipped in 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Thunder players scored in double figures. American guard NDea Flye (173-1998, college: Rocky Mountain) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-1994, college: Utah St.) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Thunder. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rockingham F. and Geelong LS. Rip City lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with four games lost. They share it with NGC Seahawks. Thunder will meet at home Seahawks (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Rip City will play against Force in Booval and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
