The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placed Capitals' (5-2) road loss to leader Salties (6-0) 84-92 on Saturday. Salties looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Chelsea Brook (188-1998) who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Erin Bollmann (180-1994, college: SEMO) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Salties' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Mia Loyd (181-1994, college: N.Dakota) produced 32 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and New Zealand forward Anna Cameron (178, college: Nevada) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Capitals players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Salties. They maintain second place with 6-0 record having 2 victories less than leader Wyndham D. Loser Capitals dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Rockhampton C.. Salties will meet at home Meteorettes (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Capitals' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Brisbane Brisbane Spartans.
