Very expected game in Mount Waverley where 12th ranked Tornadoes (3-5) were crushed by leader Falcons (7-0) 98-63 on Sunday. Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Tornadoes' 28. They outrebounded Tornadoes 38-14 including a 25-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Tornadoes' players. The best player for the winners was power forward Carley Ernst (196-1994) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Rebecca Cole (178-1992) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 assists. Five Falcons players scored in double figures. Falcons' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Olivia West (168, college: UC Riverside) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Macey Crawford (178-2005) added 15 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Falcons. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Northside W. Loser Tornadoes dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Falcons will meet at home Rangers (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tornadoes will play against Geelong Supercats (#8) and hope to secure a win.
