There was no surprise in Bulleen where 5th ranked Camberwell (3-6) was defeated by second ranked Boomers (8-1) 80-62 on Saturday. Boomers forced 24 Camberwell turnovers. Strangely Camberwell outrebounded Boomers 48-36 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Olivia Bontempelli (179-1993) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Annabel Deerbon (180, college: HCU) who added 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Boomers' coach Mason Rogers used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Victoria Sumskas with 6 points and 14 rebounds and Eleni Valos scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Boomers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-1 record behind leader Wyndham D., which they share with Newcastle F. and BA CoE. Camberwell lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Boomers will meet at home Jets (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Camberwell will play against the league's leader Devils and hope to secure a win.
