Regular Season Round 12: Ipswich F. - USC Rip 86-82
Date: May 13, 2023
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Booval where thirteenth ranked Force (3-5) beat 12th ranked Rip City (2-5) 86-82 on Saturday. Force made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Strangely Rip City outrebounded Force 41-28 including a 21-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Maria Blazejewski (185-1991, college: LSSU) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds and guard Jasmin Howe (173-1995, college: NW Missouri St.) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. Howe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Carlie Smith with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and swingman Stephanie Bairstow (188-1994, college: Utah St.) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rip City's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Force moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Kalamunda ES and Keilor T. Rip City lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. Force will meet league's leader Wizards in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rip City will play against Brisbane Spartans (#6) and hope to secure a win.
