An interesting game for Excellence (9-1) which hosted in Canberra 4th placed Sutherland Sharks (7-4). Third ranked Excellence had an easy win 121-99. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sutherland Sharks. Excellence looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swingman Ben Henshall (195-2004) nailed 25 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winning side and international forward Alex Toohey (201-2004) accounted for 25 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Lochlan Hutchison (188-1999, agency: BIG) came up with 25 points and 9 assists and American Marquel Beasley (196-1993, college: Fort Lewis) added 16 points respectively for Sutherland Sharks in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Excellence moved-up to second place. Loser Sutherland Sharks dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Hills H. and Joondalup W.. Excellence will meet Spiders (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Sutherland Sharks will play against Hills Hornets (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
