Regular Season Round 13: Hornsby S. - BA CoE 65-99

Very expected game in Hornsby where bottom-ranked Spireds (0-13) were rolled over by fourth ranked BA CoE (10-1) 99-65 on Saturday. BA CoE dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Spireds' 30. BA CoE forced 25 Spireds turnovers and outrebounded them 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Spireds' players. Power forward Jayda Clark (183-2005) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and center Saffron Shiels (187-2006) chipped in 21 points. Four BA CoE players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Kristina Moore (185-1999, college: Georgetown) responded with 28 points and 5 rebounds and Mizuki Wakamatsu scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for BA CoE. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Spireds lost their thirteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 13 games lost. BA CoE will meet at home Comets (#4) in the next round. Spireds will play against Hills Hornets (#14) in Baulkham Hills and hope to get finally their first victory.
