Very expected game when 9th ranked Spectres (5-6) were rolled over on the road by fourth ranked Geelong Supercats (7-3) 86-67 on Saturday. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Spectres' 28. They outrebounded Spectres 41-24 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Sarah Elsworthy (171-1998) stepped up and scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and center Ella Tofaeono (190, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Five Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Alice Kunek (185-1991, agency: LBM Management) responded with 27 points and American Devon Brookshire (190-1994, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Geelong Supercats. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Spectres dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with McKinnon C. and Hobart C.. Geelong Supercats will meet league's leader Lady Braves in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spectres will play against Tigers and hope to secure a win.
