There was an upset in Rockhampton where higher ranked Salties (5-4) were defeated by sixteenth ranked Rockets (1-7) 99-89 on Saturday. Rockets outrebounded Salties 49-34 including a 40-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-1994, college: Xavier, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. Naturalized South Sudanese forward Chier Maker (203-1995, college: Idaho St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Makuach Maluachx (200-1998, college: N.Mexico) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Sean Macdonald (185-2000) added 21 points and 6 assists respectively. Five Rockets and four Salties players scored in double figures. Salties' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rockets left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place. Loser Salties dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Warwick S.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
