Very predictable result when first ranked Excellence (11-1) won against 9th ranked Hawks (6-6) in Wollongong 106-100 on Sunday. Excellence made 31-of-36 free shots (86.1 percent) during the game. Excellence outrebounded Hawks 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Excellence especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Ben Henshall (195-2004) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). International forward Alex Toohey (201-2004) accounted for 11 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side. The former international swingman Tim Coenraad (201-1985, college: Nova SE) came up with 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Fred Webb (-1999) added 11 points and 8 assists respectively for Hawks in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Excellence have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Loser Hawks keep the ninth position with six games lost. Excellence will meet at home Sydney City Comets (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hawks will play against the league's second-placed Bulls and hope to secure a win.
