The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Wildcats' (7-5) road victory over 11th ranked Chargers (5-7) in Hobart 85-68 on Friday. Wildcats looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American swingman Hailey Leidel (180-1997, college: UMass) notched 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and center Rebecca Pizzey (190-1999) supported her with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Wildcats players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by American forward Kayla Steindl (190-1989, college: Gonzaga) did not help to save the game for Chargers. Sarah ONeill added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the hosts. Chargers' coach tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Wildcats have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Diamond VE and Ringwood H. Loser Chargers dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Canberra N. and Townsville F.. Wildcats will meet at home Cavaliers (#19) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Chargers will play against Hawks (#6) and hope to secure a win.
