No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Thunder (7-4) beat 12th ranked Force (3-7) in Booval 83-71 on Saturday. Thunder outrebounded Force 53-26 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Mikaela Ruef (191-1990, college: Stanford) notched a double-double by scoring 28 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and Mikhaela Cann supported her with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Thunder players scored in double figures. Thunder's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points and 7 rebounds by American power forward Maria Blazejewski (185-1991, college: LSSU) did not help to save the game for Force. Her fellow American import guard Alison Gorrell (178-1993, college: FAU) added 15 points and 10 assists for the hosts. Thunder have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Geelong LS and S.Adelaide P. Loser Force dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Kalamunda ES. Thunder will meet Meteorettes (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Force will play against Brisbane Spartans (#6) and hope to secure a win.
