Regular Season Round 14: Brisbane C. - NGC Seahawks 62-74

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Seahawks (5-5) defeated higher ranked Capitals (5-4) in Brisbane 74-62 on Saturday. Seahawks forced 20 Capitals turnovers. American guard Alexa Held (178-1999, college: DePaul) notched 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Erin Riley (180, college: Keiser) supported her with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Stephanie Collins (196-1995, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Capitals. New Zealand forward Anna Cameron (178, college: Nevada) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Seahawks moved-up to tenth place. Capitals lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Seahawks will meet at home Roar (#16) in the next round where they are favorite. Capitals will play against Sunshine CP (#15) in Cotton Tree and hope to secure a win.
