There was a small surprise in Mandurah where sixth ranked Flames (8-3) smashed 3rd placed Magic (8-3) 83-58 on Friday. The best player for the winners was German center Lisa Koop (197-1985, college: Winthrop) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Mehryn Kraker (183-1994, college: Green Bay) chipped in 17 points and 6 assists. Five Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-American Samoan power forward Sarah Toeaina (185-1996, college: Hawaii) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and forward Hannah Hank (188, college: Clemson) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Flames. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mandurah M. Flames will meet Suns (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Magic will play against Giants (#11) and hope to secure a win.
