Very expected game when bottom-ranked Magic (0-12) was smashed by third ranked Flames (10-3) in Mandurah 103-75 on Friday. Flames had a 40-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Naturalized American guard Marshall Nelson (184-1994, college: WBU) nailed 19 points and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Justin Beard (196-1996) accounted for 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ray Turner (206-1990, college: Texas A&M) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import DeQuan Abrom (188-1996, college: Belm.Abbey) added 20 points respectively for Magic in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames moved-up to second place, which they share with Willetton T. and Eltham W. Magic lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. They share the position with Southern T.. Flames will meet at home Slammers (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magic will have a break next round.
