Regular Season Round 22: Rockingham F. - SW Slammers 117-62

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Flames as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Flames smashed 13th ranked Slammers in Rockingham 117-62. Flames forced 22 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 53-36 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Slammers' players. 24 personal fouls committed by Slammers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Devondrick Walker (196-1992, college: A&M-Commerce) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American guard Marshall Nelson (184-1994, college: WBU) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Ben Stevens (206-1999, college: Laurier) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and American swingman Buay Tuach (198-1995, college: LMU, agency: Haylett Sports) added 18 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Slammers. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Frankston B. and Norths B. Slammers at the other side dropped to the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Blackburn V. and Cent.Coast C.. Slammers will play next round against Giants trying to get back on the winning streak. Flames will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Suns in Kalamunda.
