Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Spectres (9-5) outplayed 8th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-7) in East Burwood 105-80 on Saturday. Spectres outrebounded Diamond Valley Eagles 53-38 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Will Carius (201, college: W.Illinois) notched 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Kingsley Box (196-2001, college: SUU) supported him with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Even 32 points and 6 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) by forward BJ Symons (-1998) did not help to save the game for Diamond Valley Eagles. American Mandrell Worthy (191-1996, college: Azusa Pacific) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Spectres have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Keysborough C. and Melbourne Uni. Diamond Valley Eagles lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Spectres will meet at home league's second-placed Knox Raiders in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Mount Gambier Pioneers (#6) in Mt Gambier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
