Very expected game when 17th ranked Thunder (4-11) was smashed by eighth ranked Knox Raiders (9-7) in Wantirna South 89-58 on Saturday. Knox Raiders made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Thunder turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Forward Alicia Froling (190-1996, college: SMU) nailed 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Danish power forward Emilie Hesseldal (185-1990, college: Colorado St.) accounted for 7 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Japanese center Kadysha Umezawa (190-1998) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Icelandic forward Eva Kristjansdottir (186-1997) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Thunder in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Knox Raiders moved-up to seventh place. Loser Thunder dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Melbourne T. and Penrith P.. Knox Raiders will meet Wildcats (#8) in the next round.
